105 Police Officers across Bremen, Germany, have begun using Body Worn Video Solutions from WCCTV as part of a one year trial to evaluate the devices' effectiveness.
Officers across the German province will utilise the cameras to provide safety and security for both the officers and the general public.
"We have begun a one-year trial period in patrol service," says police spokesman Nils Matthiesen. So far, the riot police have utilised the cameras, and they have also been used at festivals. Now the public space is permanently monitored."
WCCTV's cameras were chosen as the Bremen Police force's preferred solution following a similar rollout to Saxony Anhalt Police.
WCCTV's range of body worn cameras includes the WCCTV Body Worn Camera (Connect)+ and the WCCTV Body Worn Camera (Record).
The body worn cameras also have a preventive purpose - the cameras should deter potential perpetrators of violence because recorded data may also be used in subsequent criminal proceedings.
Police spokesman Matthiesen: "Thus, the cameras contribute to the self-protection of the police and also to de-escalation of violence."
